Tuesday I found myself sitting in awe as I watched a shadow move across the door to my office. It initially caught my attention because of the color of the light, which was coming through the window in the other room from the rising sun. It was hitting the door at a fairly extreme angle and creating a lot of texture. Texture, which has always been attractive to my eye usually becomes part of a photograph when I see it. After I shot this simple image I sat and watched as it moved across the door, I could even detect the movement. It reminded me of how quickly the sun seems to move as it approaches the horizon, but seems to be nearly motionless during the day. It’s a reminder of how quickly the day passes, and how little time we truly have.

Chasing the shadows

I recommend that you take the time some morning to watch the shadows move. It may inspire you.
