Young students search for birds nests, frogs, and fish during the Birding with Knee High Naturalists program at the Spring Lake Park put on by the Little Traverse Conservancy.

Tomorrow is the Third Annual Getting Kids Outdoors Spring Kickoff at Pond Hill Farm which runs from noon to 3pm.

The program stated off with a story about a bear cub in the spring, then soon enough the kids were roaring off down the trail searching for cups of berries.

This may have worn them out as they came upon a “den” to rest in for a while.

Which was followed by more hiking and searching for birds and other wildlife to color into their workbooks.

As they were exploring it became clear they were off in a world of their own.

After all the running around they came back for a bit of song and dance.
