In the 1980’s the United States government seized land and homes throughout the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area. Under emanate domain, people were forced from their homes and land for a sum of money. All of the modern buildings were removed, the historic buildings were left in place and many have begun to show the signs of abandonment. It may seem to some that the forced evictions were somewhat selective as there are still some private residences within the park.

The park is one of my favorite places to visit and photograph, it is a great asset to the local economy. However was it worth the cost of the displacement of people and families from their homes? Do you feel that the evictions were selective?
