Old Mission lighthouse sits at the north end of the Old Mission Peninsula which extends north from Traverse City. The light has been replaced in function by another light further out into the water to warn passing boats of the long shoal. The water stays very shallow for a ways from the land, this photo was captured on the ice and by way of the rocks the shallowness is put into perspective.
